One thing that I get asked on occasion has to do with voter eligibility to vote for a particular place in the Leander ISD elections. In some governmental organizations and boards, the board members have to come from a particular area of the entire district. An example of this is the Capitol Area Metropolitan Planning Organization. They specify that certain members have to come from Travis County and certain members have to come from Williamson County, but once they are on the board, their voices are equal. Leander ISD does not function this way. All of the board members for Leander ISD are elected on an at-large basis, which means that all of the trustees represent the entire district. This means that you (the voter) can vote in both the place 1 and place 2 races this year. Place 1 is a race between Lisa Mallory, James Spires, and Dustin Weibel. And of course place 2 is where I am running. So when you head to the polls in May, be sure to vote in both races - have a candidate chosen in place 1, and vote Nathan Deckinga for Leander ISD place 2.
