For the past week I have been unable to distribute Nathan4LISD campaign yard signs due to being out of stakes. The order of replacement yard stakes has arrived and I am eager to get the remaining signs planted. If you have a place that could use a yard sign, please contact me and I will get you one immediately! In addition, I am still looking to fill my calendar with groups who would like to talk with a school board candidate. If you have anything that fits that description - anything from a sports team to a mom's group or a poker club - I would love an invite. Thanks again for your support! |

There is a fundraiser for the Winkley PTA at Bush's Chicken tonight. A portion of the sales between 5 and 8 pm will be donated to help out the PTA of this Leander ISD elementary school. I will be there tonight as well - so feel free to stop by, say hello and ask me a few questions. And while you are there, pick up a big cup of tea and some fried chicken. If you have an event or Leander ISD fundraiser that you would like posted here - send me a note and I'll help to get the word out! |

The election season is upon us again and I want to start by thanking everyone who voted for me last year as well as those who have expressed their support for this year already. Last year was a great experience and I like to think that my former opponent (Jim) and I respect each other and value each others opinions. I know I value his. Regardless of the outcome of this year, I hope that the same mutual respect will exist at the end of this contest between myself and Don. A year ago, I was ready to serve as a freshman trustee. In the interim, I have continued to stay involved with the school district and expand my understanding of the challenges facing Leander ISD. I prepare for the board meetings as though I were a board member and have attended nearly every one in the past year and a half. But that is only one aspect of the district - it is vital to get information from many different sources in order to get a complete picture of any organization. It is also important that I remember that this position is about helping the students, teachers, and taxpayers of Leander ISD get the best in all things. There are many ways to help in that regard and lending a hand where there is a need is something that I find great pleasure in. Over the next few months, I hope you will come to know me more and deem me worthy of representing you on the Leander ISD Board of Trustees in Place 2. Thank you. -Nathan Deckinga |
